We are three friends born in Minho, in Esposende— a small fishing town where the river meets the Atlantic.
We grew up between the mountains, the sea, and the rural villages of Northern Portugal.
Nortada Travels was born to reveal our home through local eyes — with depth, authenticity, and real connection.
Choose your preferred trip and dates to start your journey. Designed to give you a genuine taste of Northern Portugal with zero travel friction. Groups are capped at 8 guests — so you can come solo, as a couple, or with a friend and arrive as strangers but leave as true friends.
Fly into Porto Airport (OPO). From there, direct buses (like Flixbus) go straight to Esposende bus station where we pick you up! Shuttles can also be arranged. Flights are not included.
Based in Esposende, a coastal hidden gem surrounded by the Atlantic, Cávado River, and green hills. Rooms are shared (two per room). Private rooms are available upon early request for a small supplement.
Our hosts (Diana & João) speak fluent English, and so does everyone joining. Guests come from all over Europe (and locals too!), making English the natural bridge for effortless group connection.
Includes accommodation, local transport, breakfasts, activities, insurance, and curated meals. Portuguese food leans on meat and seafood, but vegetarian or dietary needs are easily adapted when you sign up!
No training required! Expect gentle nature walks, relaxed bike rides, and time on the river. It’s about being active in nature, not technical endurance. No one gets left behind.

Our Experiences take you through protected areas such as the North Coast Natural Park (PNLN) or Peneda-Gerês National Park. You’ll take part in activities that gives something back to the land, whether that means helping clean a beach, planting trees or supporting another local environmental initiative.
Because these landscapes are not simply places to visit. They are living ecosystems and cherished homes. We believe we should help leave them a little better than we found them.
Tourism should nourish a destination, not deplete it. We support micro-local businesses, help keep traditions alive and choose hotels over tourist accommodations in local homes so we can respect local housing needs (pressure on the real estate sector and high rents are seen everywhere. Northern Portugal is no different.).

Portugal stands at the western edge of Europe — often called the continent’s tail. This unique geographic position has preserved qualities that are increasingly rare in the modern world. Here, time has not erased everything. Traditional taverns still exist, distinctive architecture remains part of daily life, elderly women carry ancient knowledge and customs, recipes taste exactly as our grandmothers once prepared them, and old villages continue to tell their stories. Sun and sea, mountains and valleys, diverse landscapes, history, culture, honest cuisine and welcoming people. This is Portugal — and this is also Northern Portugal, the greenest region of mainland Portugal.
